Description
This dataset originates from a research project focused on attitudes of researchers, academic staff, and other stakeholders in the research environment toward the implementation of open science principles in the Czech Republic, specifically regarding open data, open publishing, and research data management. The research was conducted as an online participatory survey using the eDemOS deliberative platform, which combined three interconnected tools: (1) deliberative discussion inspired by the Pol.is platform, (2) voting on policy proposals inspired by the Decidim platform, and (3) the IMAGINE OS card method aimed at identifying values and priorities associated with open science. Respondents could vote on proposed statements, propose their own statements, comment on policy proposals, and complete the card sorting experiment. The platform displayed aggregated results and visualizations of opinion groups in real time. Participation was voluntary and anonymous; the card method was offered to a separately recruited smaller subsample. The dataset comprises both quantitative data (anonymized responses, voting records, card method results) and qualitative data (participants' comments, proposed statements and policy proposals). The entry questionnaire was completed by 231 respondents out of 241 accounts. (2026-08)

Data Type
The dataset comprises both quantitative and qualitative data from an online participatory research project. It includes anonymized respondent-level data, voting records from the deliberative forum, participant-generated proposals and comments, voting results on policy proposals, outcomes of the IMAGINE OS card method, a comprehensive codebook, and a fully reproducible analytical infrastructure in R.

Related Material
The eDemOS platform software is archived separately on Zenodo under the MIT license: conceptual DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21522841, which always resolves to the current version (at present v1.0.1, 10.5281/zenodo.21738046).

Characteristic of Sources
Anonymisation. The dataset contains no direct identifiers; user identifiers are opaque internally generated numbers. All free-text responses were reviewed line by line before publication and identifying details were removed or replaced with placeholders. To reduce the risk of re-identification from rare combinations of indirect identifiers, country of birth and country of residence are aggregated to {Czechia, other} and age is top-coded at 70. One deliberate exception: the authors of the two policy proposals in `decidim\_main` are named. They are not respondents but the proposers, who appeared publicly under their own names on the platform; authorship is part of the proposal itself.
