Description
| The Epistemic Beliefs of Students in History Teaching dataset is one of the outputs of the History+ project. The aim of the History+ project was to examine the potential for transforming the methods of teaching history at the second level of primary schools. The project was announced by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in the form of a so-called experimental intervention. It focused on the development of pupils' key competences, including critical thinking on history and research work with sources of historical information. At the same time, in connection with the 2030+ Strategy, the project verified the way of supporting schools in the actual transformation of teaching methods and the creation of a model for working with teachers. The History+ project was launched on 1st February 2021 in cooperation between the National Pedagogical Institute of the Czech Republic and the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. The Epistemic Beliefs of Students in History Teaching dataset is a comparative dataset for the Epistemic Beliefs of History Teachers dataset and also for the Teachers - Whole dataset. The Epistemic Beliefs of Students in History Teaching dataset is the result of the data collection in the spring semester in 2022. The respondents were undergraduate and graduate students of History Teaching at the Faculty of Arts of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University, Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, and Pedagogical Faculty of the Charles University and their teachers. The collection was conducted using the internationally recognized and validated Beliefs in History Questionnaire, which was translated and tested in the Czech environment by Říčan et al. (2024-04) |
